Periodontal Services
Periodontal Disease starts when plaque and tartar accumulate at the base of your teeth. Periodontal disease affects the gums and supporting structures of the teeth.  The bacteria in the plaque leads to an infection in the gums (gingiva) called Gingivitis. Gingivitis is an early state of periodontal disease where the gums may become red, swollen, and bleed easily. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the tissue and bone that holds your teeth in place, a condition called Periodontitis (Pyorrhea). Because of the bacterial infection associated with Periodontitis, tooth abscesses are also common.
Periodontal disease is treatable and preventable. We provide you with professional care in our office and instructions on proper home care as well.

Sealants
Dental sealants refer to a plastic that the dentist bonds into the grooves of the chewing surface of a tooth to prevent the formation of tooth decay which is caused by plaque.

Partials & Dentures
For patients missing all their teeth, dentures can provide a natural, healthy and attractive smile.  A complete denture is a prosthesis used to replace all missing teeth. A partial is a prosthesis that is used to replace several missing teeth. Both are removed each night to be cleaned while you sleep. Proper care will increase the life of your denture or partial. Being fitted with a denture or partial may take several appointments to get the best results.

Root Canals
Root canals are done to save the damaged or dead pulp in the root canal of the tooth by cleaning out the diseased pulp and reshaping the canal. The canal is filled with a rubber like material, to prevent recontamination and further damage of the tooth. The tooth is then sealed with a post and/or a gold or porcelain crown. This procedure enables patients to keep the original tooth.

Extractions
Patients may choose extraction or removal of a tooth because other alternatives are too expensive.  Dentists may decide that the tooth is not repairable, and therefore remove the tooth.  In other cases, dentists may choose to remove the tooth for health reasons, such as removal of impacted wisdom teeth, and teeth associated with cysts or tumors. And in some cases, crowded teeth are removed to create a more attractive smile through orthodontics or braces.
